About Us
The Diet Practice Horsham is run by Susie Longford a state registered dietitian who specialises in helping people to lose weight and to keep the weight off.

Many of Susie’s clients have been advised by their GP to lose weight to improve their health because they have:
- Raised cholesterol and/or high blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
- Menopausal symptoms
- Osteoporosis or joint problems or arthritis
- Depression or low mood
But many clients simply want to lose weight and yet others are worried and want expert guidance, help and support to identify the triggers or factors that are causing their irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms or food allergy or intolerance.
How can a dietitian help me?
Whatever is required, we provide friendly, un-judgemental advice and guidance on your nutritional concerns. Our philosophy is that weight management, diet and health are inextricably linked and that feeling comfortable with your weight is a vital cornerstone of your general well-being and lifestyle.
We do not believe that there is a single approach that works for everyone and tailoring a package that suits each individual is a one of the factors that sets us apart.How we work with you
You will first go through a detailed screening to identify exactly what you want to achieve and to enable us to better understand what you are doing at the moment, including what influences you such as family pressures, personal issues or barriers, the need to cater for children and adults at mealtimes, financial constraints and so on. This may include completing and maintaining a full food diary which you can also complete on- line
We aim to communicate with you clearly, simply and objectively. Techniques used during sessions vary according to the nutritional concern but where appropriate behavioural change and cognitive behavioural treatment (CBT) is used not only to achieve weight loss but also to minimize subsequent weight regain.
We do not sell products or plans and we will never resort to any scientific ‘spin’.
We will give you the latest evidence based findings on relevant functional foods such as sterols and stanols or probiotic foods
We will give you relevant leaflets and dietary information to take home to read and digest.
We will sometimes give you a bit of homework to do as well!
Our aim is to provide practical help and to ensure that you learn how to manage weight and nutrition issues yourself.About Susie
Susie Longford, a graduate of the University of Surrey, is a state registered dietitian and nutritionist who specialises in weight management. She is a member of the Health Professions Council and the British Dietetic Association as well as DOM UK (dietitians in obesity management) and its bariatric sub group. She has been a committee of DOM UK for nearly 3 years.Susie provides friendly, non-judgmental advice and guidance on weight and nutritional concerns. She is also involved in the national MEND programme to encourage and support weight loss/management amongst children and works in a number of Surrey schools and companies. Susie also has clinics in Haslemere and Chobham
